Networks
for Next Gen Buildings
Founded
in 2001, Bandwidth Now installs, provisions and manages next
generation Building Optical Networks (BON). The patent pending
BON architecture and design Aggregates Bandwidth, Automates
IT, Integrates Building Systems and Enables Wi-Fi. The BON
is a all fiber optic building backbone infrastructure which
combines an "open standards architecture" with an
"IP protocol". Bandwidth Now launched its first
pilot project in San Diego, the 330,000 square foot NBC Buildings
part of a "learning community project" with Intel
Online Services. This pilot was a "tenant driven initiative",
where the goal was to drive down tenant costs of bandwidth
and other IT services as well as to integrate building systems.
After a successful one year pilot, Bandwidth Now has
deployed several high profile projects, including the world's
first 100% Wi-Fi enabled office building, One America Plaza,
where wi-fi is an amenity. To view these project and
learn more, see Hot
Buildings. Bandwidth Now was nominated
by Intel for the Computerworld Honors Program's 21st Century
Achievement Award. The Computerworld Honors Program brings
together the Chairmen or CEO's of the foremost information
technology companies in the world to document a revolution
in progress: the global information technology revolution.
This Program is dedicated to identifying the men and women,
organizations and institutions, that are leading this revolution
and to recording thee impact of their achievements on society.
